About Merino Wool
4 questions
We use 100% Australian Merino-cross wool across our entire collection. Our sheep are bred from Merino heritage lines, producing a fiber that combines the renowned softness of Merino genetics with the structural resilience needed for bedding. Every batch is independently tested to confirm it falls within our 31–32 micron and 50–60mm staple length specification.
Pure Merino wool (15–24 µm) is extraordinarily soft but has a short, fine staple that collapses under the sustained pressure and heat of sleep — it mats, packs down, and loses loft over time. Our Merino-cross fiber at 31–32 µm retains the Merino softness you can feel against skin, while the longer staple and natural crimp keep the fill springy and evenly distributed year after year.
Yes. Our wool is sourced exclusively from certified Australian farms with documented animal welfare standards. Each farm is audited for flock health, pasture management, and ethical shearing practices. We do not source from farms that practice mulesing. Our products carry OEKO-TEX certification confirming no harmful substances in the finished textile.
Yes — our natural wool retains its lanolin, the protective wax naturally present in sheep wool. Lanolin is naturally antibacterial, moisture-regulating, and generally well-tolerated even by people with sensitive skin. If you have a known lanolin allergy, our washable Mattress Protector uses wool that has undergone a treatment process which significantly reduces lanolin content — making it the better choice for highly sensitive individuals.
Our Products

Our current collection focuses on premium wool sleep essentials: the Pure Merino Wool Mattress Topper (available in 1-inch and 2-inch loft), and the Purevana Wool Mattress Protector with waterproof TPU backing. All products use 100% Australian Merino-cross wool with a natural cotton percale cover — no synthetic blends, ever.
Our Mattress Toppers and Protector are available in Twin, Full, Queen, King, and California King. If you need a custom or split size, please contact us — we are happy to accommodate special requests.
The 1-inch topper (750 g/m² fill) adds a subtle comfort layer that enhances your existing mattress without changing its feel — ideal for sleepers who want gentle temperature regulation and pressure relief. The 2-inch topper (1,500 g/m² fill) delivers a noticeable plush loft with significantly more cushioning — best for those who want real pressure relief or need to soften a firm mattress. Both feature box quilting and elastic straps to stay securely in place.
Yes. The Purevana Mattress Protector combines a 100% natural cotton percale top with a waterproof TPU-coated microfiber backing. The TPU layer blocks liquids completely while remaining breathable — no crinkle sound, no plastic feel. The fully elasticized 18-inch pocket fits mattresses from standard to deep-profile. It is also the only product in our line that is fully machine washable.
Yes. Both the 1-inch and 2-inch toppers come with elastic corner straps that anchor securely to your mattress. The 2-inch model features adjustable straps designed to fit mattresses from 8 to 18 inches deep. Combined with the natural weight of the wool fill, they stay firmly in place through the night.
No. Unlike plastic-backed protectors, our TPU-coated microfiber backing stays completely silent — no crinkling or rustling. The cotton percale top feels cool and smooth against your skin. Most customers report no noticeable change in mattress feel, just the added benefit of waterproof protection and natural temperature regulation from the wool layer.
Care & Maintenance
4 questions
It depends on the product. Our Mattress Protector uses washable Australian wool — machine wash on a gentle wool cycle at 86°F or lower, with a mild wool-specific detergent (e.g. Eucalan or Woolite). Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and high spin speeds. Our Wool Topper uses natural, untreated wool and is not suitable for machine washing — spot clean only, or professional dry clean if needed.
No — tumble drying is not recommended for any of our wool products. High heat damages wool fibers and causes irreversible shrinkage. After spot cleaning, lay flat and allow to air dry naturally away from direct heat sources. On a dry day, airing outside in fresh air is ideal — natural sunlight has mild antibacterial properties and helps refresh the fill.
Blot (don't rub) the spill immediately with a clean, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, apply a small amount of wool-safe detergent directly to the spot, let it sit for 10 minutes, then gently blot clean. Merino wool's natural lanolin coating actually makes it more stain-resistant than you might expect.
With proper care, our merino wool bedding lasts 10–15 years — significantly longer than synthetic alternatives (3–5 years) or cotton (5–7 years). Merino fibers can bend up to 20,000 times before breaking, compared to just 3,000 for cotton. It's a genuine long-term investment in your sleep.

Certifications & Sustainability

Our products are manufactured in an OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified facility. This means our manufacturing partner has been independently audited to ensure all materials and production processes are free from harmful substances — the same rigorous standard that OEKO-TEX® is known for. We are currently in the process of obtaining individual product certification under the PUREVANA brand name.
Merino wool is one of the most sustainable bedding materials available. It's 100% natural, renewable (sheep grow new fleece annually), and fully biodegradable at end of life. Unlike synthetic materials derived from petroleum, wool has a minimal carbon footprint. Combined with its 10–15 year lifespan, merino bedding produces significantly less waste than alternatives.
